Bournemouth based financial services provider Teachers Assurance continued its support for local children’s charity Julia’s House by donating more than £2,000 following the 2014 Bournemouth Marathon Festival. At the beginning of October, nine Teachers Assurance employees took part in the Festival to raise money for Dorset’s only children’s hospice dedicated to caring for children with life limiting illnesses.

Through fundraising activities including bake sales and dress down days at their Bournemouth head office, the Teachers Assurance Bournemouth Marathon Festival team managed to raise a total of £1,054. In addition to this amount, Teachers Assurance kindly added a further £1,000 to the total, taking the organisation to an annual fundraising total amount of more than £3,000 when combined with other 2014 activities.

This year marks the ninth consecutive year that Teachers Assurance staff members have elected to support Julia’s House through their fundraising activities, donating more than £5,000 to date. The money raised and donated has been generated through a range of fundraising activities such as staff raffles, dress down days, cake sales and even charitable clothing donations. The staff members at Teachers Assurance have repeatedly elected Julia’s House as their chosen charity due to their dedication to caring for children who are suffering from life limiting illnesses in their local community.

Sam Richardson, Head of Membership Services at Teachers Assurance commented on the efforts of organisation’s staff: “Staff members at Teachers Assurance continue to donate their time, effort and money to support Julia’s House and I’m proud to see that their charitable endeavours have raised in excess of £3,000 so far in 2014. Julia’s House carries out extraordinary work in caring for young people who are experiencing life limiting conditions, as well as their families – and Teachers Assurance hopes to continue to support them in every way possible.”

The Bournemouth Marathon Festival ran for its second year in 2014, with more than 10,500 people taking part. Those Teachers Assurance staff members running covered a range of distances from 5 kilometres to half a marathon. For more information on the Bournemouth Marathon Festival visit www.run-bmf.com.
