Teaching Matters Praises Broad Elements Set Forth in Chancellor Farina’s DOE Vision
Statement of Lynette GuastaferroChancellor Carmen Fariña today laid out a schema for New York City Schools consistent with best research and evaluation thinking. Her six elements are linchpins of successful school improvement, and are based on Anthony Bryk’s Consortium on Chicago School Research (CCSR) model. A key point is that these elements work together, and lagging in any makes it much less likely that a school will succeed. This is robust theory of change based on quality research in urban areas that face similar challenges to New York City’s public schools.
