Nearly 250 middle-school students will participate in Teaching Matters’ Poetry Slam, Wednesday, June 4
Master poet Carlos Andrés Gómez, featured guestWhat and Who: A celebration of poetry written by 5th-8th grade students. During the Poetry Slam, public schoolers from across New York City come together to perform their own original work in front of an audience of their peers and adults. Finalists are selected by judges in the morning and take the stage in the afternoon with master guest poet Carlos Andrés Gómez. The Poetry Slam is the culminating activity of Teaching Matters’ Common Core-aligned Writing Matters 4-week Writing Poetry unit
