BROADWAY SAN JOSE ANNOUNCES 2013-14 SEASON LINE-UP FEATURING THREE-WEEK ENGAGEMENT OF WICKED
Cast of JERSEY BOYS Perform at Season Launch Event Attended By BSJ Subscribers
SAN JOSE, CA [April 23, 2013] – Broadway San Jose, a partnership between the Nederlander organization of New York and Team San Jose, announced the six shows in its 2013-14 Season today at an event attended by approximately 500 Subscribers and community leaders at the San Jose Center for Performing Arts in downtown San Jose. Headlining the Broadway San Jose season will be a three-week run of WICKED, the Tony Award winning musical that maintains its position as the top selling musical on Broadway, nine years after its premiere.
The fifth Broadway San Jose season will start in October of 2013 with the Bay Area exclusive engagement of PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT, followed by a new revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic EVITA in November. The first show of 2014 will be a multi-media tribute to chart-topping, Grammy-Award-winning The Bee Gees, with a unique tribute performance titled THE AUSTRALIAN BEE GEES SHOW; followed by a musical tribute to Webber, Broadway’s most beloved composer, beginning in May. Coming in July is the blockbuster JERSEY BOYS, the rags-to-rock-to-riches story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.
Guests at the Season Launch event were treated to a surprise performance from the touring cast of JERSEY BOYS, who appeared on stage immediately following a presentation of video clips from the six shows. Cast members Nick Cosgrove (Frankie), Miles Jacoby (Bob Gaudio), Christopher DeAngelis (Nick Massi), and Adam Zelasko (Tommy DeVito) performed a medley of music from the Tony Award winning Best Musical. Nick Cosgrove then delighted the audience with a solo performance of the hit single Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.
Broadway San Jose general manager Nanci Williams says her staff is gearing up for the biggest season yet. “With two blockbusters, two Bay Area premiere engagements, and a three-week run of WICKED, our fifth season in San Jose promises to bring more patrons to the San Jose Center for Performing Arts, and to downtown San Jose, than ever before.”

Broadway San Jose’s 2013-14 season begins on October 29th, 2013 and runs through September 14th, 2014 at San Jose Center for Performing Arts in downtown San Jose.
