Tecnomen received orders from Brazil's claro digital to supply messaging and prepaid expansion worth eur 2.4 million
TECNOMEN RECEIVED ORDERS FROM BRAZIL'S CLARO DIGITAL TO SUPPLY MESSAGING AND PREPAID EXPANSION WORTH EUR 2.4 MILLION Tecnomen Corporation is to supply voice messaging and prepaid expansions to Claro Digital (Telet cellular service), a Telecom Américas Group company. The contract calls for the expansion of existing prepaid and messaging capacity, as well as the addition of new features for the prepaid service. This will increase Claro Digital's current prepaid subscriber capacity to 800,000 users. The value of the orders is approximately EUR 2.4 million. Deliveries will take place in 2001. Claro Digital operates its mobile networks in one of Brazil's wealthiest states, the southern area of Rio Grande do Soul. The population of the area, approximately 10 million, is highly urbanised. Telet has over 600,000 subscribers and the service's annual subscriber growth rate has exceeded 100%. The deal underlines Tecnomen's strong competitive position in Latin America and highlights promising opportunities for Tecnomen in providing products and services to other Telecom Américas Group companies in Brazil and other Latin American countries. In Brazil alone, Telecom Américas boasts more than 3,500,000 subscribers. Among the other companies belonging to Telecom Américas Group in Brazil are TESS, ATL, Telet and Americel.
