BRASIL TELECOM MIGRATES ITS PREPAID FIXED LINE SERVICE TO TECNOMEN GSM PREPAID
SYSTEM

Brasil Telecom (BrT), member of the Fixed-Mobile Convergence Alliance and one of
the largest telecommunications companies in Brazil, has successfully migrated its
800,000 subscribers from its fixed line prepaid platform to the Tecnomen Prepaid
System.

BrT operates both GSM and landline networks throughout Brazil. This prepaid
system migration allows BrT to match its fixed line services with GSM services,
resulting in network solution convergence.

In 2004, the initial prepaid system was only delivered for the GSM network.
Today, this prepaid system supports simultaneous service for both landline and
GSM subscribers in the central and southern regions of Brazil.

This system launch consolidates Tecnomen's position in Latin America and
strengthens the company's status as the premier provider of value-added service
systems for convergent operators.

"It's important for Brasil Telecom to integrate its mobile and landline
telephonic services into one convergent platform", notes Mr Oscar Fernandez,
Managing Director, Tecnomen Latin America. "We believe that this project will be
highly successful due to its insightful perspective towards saving operating
expenses and providing fixed-mobile service parity. Tecnomen is proud of having
been selected by BrT to collaborate on such an innovative project", Mr Fernandez
added.

Tecnomen Prepaid utilises Tecnomen's extensive experience in the provision of
Intelligent Network (IN) prepaid solutions to deliver cost-effective, redundant,
scalable and standards-compliant solutions at the highest level. Tecnomen Prepaid
does not impose any restrictions on mobile terminals or SIM cards, and supports
the simultaneous use of different bearer network standards (e.g. INAP, CAP, GSM,
TDMA, CDMA). This is an important feature in markets where several network
standards are in use, as is the case in many Latin American countries.
