KILROY Travel International goes with Tele1 Europe KILROY Travel International A/S, which also includes Benns Rejser and Team Travel, has signed a three-year agreement with Tele1 Europe. Under the agreement, Tele1 Europe will serve as KILROY's operator for its IP-VPN network. The KILROY group is present in over 40 cities across Europe and has its head office in Copenhagen, Denmark. During autumn, The KILROY group has had its offices throughout Europe connected via IP-VPN based data connections featuring MPLS technology. This is a major technological step forward and matches the company's investment in a new booking and sales system. IP-VPN means "Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network," MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) is a novel way of managing traffic in such a network. "The advantage of MPLS compared to other technology used so far is that the system is intelligent and can itself select a transmission path and speed according to data priority. This means better use of capacity. For example, offices can communicate with each other without going via headquarters. Ultimately, the system may allow for flexible charging based on optimized use of capacity" says Mr Torben Rune of Netplan A/S, a Danish consultancy, adviser to KILROY A/S. "In order to implement our strategy plan, we issued public tenders for a booking system as well as a telecommunications system. In each of these areas, we wanted a single supplier who was able to deliver high quality. Making our choice it was important for us that Tele1 Europe was the only telecom operator with a presence in all of our major markets in the Nordic region," comments Henrik Kaltoft, Financial Director at KILROY. Claus Jacobsen, Managing Director of Tele1 Europe in Denmark: "Our principal transmission network in the Nordic region and our local broadband connections suit KILROY and other customers who want a strong presence in local markets as well as centralised services such as booking. We can meet their requirements for reliable data communication coupled with high redundancy." The KILROY Group has 600 employees and is a market leader in the Nordic region in travel packages to young people and students. In the most recent financial year, sales reached DKK 1.5 billion and the profit before tax was DKK 19.7 million.
