Lucent Technologies Strategic Partner and Main Supplier to Tele1 Europe Tele1 Europe and Lucent Technologies have today closed a long-term and extensive partner agreement. Lucent Technologies will become Tele1 Europe's main supplier of technical infrastructure in all the cities where the company is now currently building fibre optic access networks. Tele1 Europe is now building Europes fastest broadband network for data-, internet- and voice services. Tele1 Europe also equips long distance networks with the latest technology that enables a transmission capacity of initially 40 gigabits. The first delivery will be made during the month of January and it is estimated that this segment of the project work will be completed within three years. The procurement is worth 250 million SEK and the future target for the collaboration can amount to a value of at least 600 million SEK. The agreement is one of the most important that Lucent Technologies has signed in the Nordics and one of the reasons is the regions already predominant position in regards to the expansion of broad band. We see this as an important strategic partnership for Lucent. Tele1 Europe is the fastest growing private data- and telecommunications operator in the Nordic region and provides Lucent with the opportunity to further develop and implement our know-how about broadband networks, says Christer Andersson, Managing Director of Lucent Technologies Sweden AB. Tele1 Europe beliefs it is the only Pan-Nordic data- and telecommunications operator in the Nordic region that invests in local access network with broad band capacity. It was important for Tele1 Europe to sign a partner agreement with an internationally leading supplier of both data- and telecommunication solutions. Lucent Technologies strength lies in their market position and their commitment to work together with us in a partnership, says Ivar Strömberg, Chief Executive Officer Tele1 Europe. Together we will build Europes broadest superhighway for data- and Internettraffic. In total, Tele1 Europe will invest more than 1 billion SEK in broad band networks.
