Benima strengthens its position in the infrastructure and energy sectors

Benima, Teleca’s industrial IT and automation business, has today entered into a collaboration agreement with YIT that further strengthens its position in the infrastructure and energy sectors by enabling it to offer customers wider-ranging complete undertakings. At the same time as the agreement comes into force on 1 April, Benima will acquire YIT’s infrastructure automation business in Sweden, including its staff of 14. Benima predicts that the collaboration with YIT will lead to the winning of several large contracts in both the Nordic area and beyond.

Benima is the Nordic area’s largest supplier-independent consulting company specialising in industrial IT and automation. YIT is the leading installation services company in Sweden. Both companies occupy strong positions in the energy and infrastructure sectors, in which they wish to move forward even further. This new collaboration will make it possible to offer customers the wider-ranging undertakings that are in demand in today’s market. The worldwide infrastructure and energy industry is currently in great need of development, and large investments are being planned, not least in the Nordic area. Benima therefore expects a continued increase in demand for several years ahead, especially since this is an industry that is not considered sensitive to economic fluctuations. Benima and YIT already collaborate today on several projects, with good results, such as the modernisation of Ringhals, unit 2 and Korstaverket, unit F5. The new agreement simplifies matters for customers, who can now choose to have agreements with only one party instead of several. “Our investment in infrastructure projects has resulted in substantially increased demand for our engineering services. Working together with such a large installation company as YIT will strengthen our position in the market even further. We’re also very positive about the transfer of YIT’s automation business to Benima, which is an important addition and complement to our business, especially in Malmö,” says Per Magnusson, MD of Benima SydVäst AB. “We’re looking forward to working more closely together with Benima, partly because of our positive experience of working together before, and partly because it will lead to new, interesting projects,” says Leif Gustavsson, MD of YIT Sweden. “Benima’s leading position in industrial automation and IT together with our experience of installation and contract work make us a strong partner.” The agreement comes into force on 1 April, the same date as the acquisition of YIT’s automation unit operations in Malmö, Växjö and Gothenburg. The agreement is not exclusive. The size of the acquisition is expected to have a limited positive effect on Benima’s results.
