Teleca has once again been honoured as a development partner for one of the award-winning products of the Medical Design Excellence Awards. MDEA is an awards programme in the global life sciences sector for the recognition of the engineers, scientists and designers behind innovations that substantially improve the health and medical services. Teleca is being honoured for its role in developing the Axis-Shields Afinion™ AS100 Point-of-Care Analyser System.

The Afinion™ AS100, the world’s most advanced instrument for in vitro point-of-care diagnostic tests, has been produced by combining Axis-Shields long experience of in vitro diagnostics with Teleca’s expertise in instrument development. The instrument has an easy-to-understand user interface, provides fast test results and is small enough to stand unobtrusively on a doctor’s desk. “This award is a great honour and very well deserved recognition of the scientists and engineers who have developed this product,” says Olav Steines, managing director of Axis-Shield PoC. “We’re proud to be the main development partner in this project. The Afinion™ AS100 is a product that’s been made possible by pushing technology a step further,” says Jonas Mann, Business Area Manager Life Science at Teleca. The 2006 winners will receive their Medical Design Excellence Awards at a ceremony during the Medical Design & Manufacturing East Conference and Exposition on 7 June 2006 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York.
