Teleca has been awarded as supplier to a winning product of the 2005 “Medical Design Excellence Awards®”. MDEA is a premier awards program for the medical technology community, recognizing the engineers, scientists, and designers, who are responsible for the groundbreaking innovations that are changing the face of healthcare. Teleca is awarded for the development of Aerocrine’s NIOX MINO™.

Aerocrine commissioned Teleca to develop the world’s first hand-held analyser of inflammation in asthma patients. The device measures exhaled nitric oxide, a responsive non-invasive biomarker of airway inflammation. The project was carried out by Teleca’s Centre of Excellence for Life Science. Teleca was involved from the idea phase to market launch. “The collaboration with our partner Teleca for the technical design has been crucial for the successful development of NIOX MINO,” says Mats Carlson, VP Development at Aerocrine. ”We are very proud of receiving the Medical Design Excellence Awards. NIOX MINO is an exceptional product that can help millions of people around the world that suffer from asthma,” says Jonas Mann, Director Life Science at Teleca. The 2005 Medical Design Excellence award winners will be honoured at a ceremony during the Medical Design & Manufacturing East Conference and Exposition, June 13-15, 2005, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention center.
