Teleca has signed an agreement with the Swedish Armed Forces concerning the rationalisation and improved effectivity of the defence forces’ IT operations. Teleca’s role is to provide methods development, project management and technical expertise. The agreement initially covers a 2-year period, and Teleca estimates the value of the order at 10 million Swedish kronor.

Historically much of the Swedish Armed Forces’ IT system has been built up locally by units and garrisons, which is why most of the operational maintenance is still run locally today. The Swedish Armed Forces plans to make its IT operations more efficient and thereby lower the running costs. This will be achieved by introducing efficient workplaces, reducing the number of servers and applications, and centralising operations and supervision. Teleca will assist the Swedish Armed Forces in this work by providing methods development, project management and technical expertise. “There is a widespread need to rationalise our IT operations in areas such as infrastructure, server environments and workplaces. We’ve chosen to work with Teleca because they have experience from similar projects and are offering very effective control,” says Hans Rundberg, manager of the project at the technical section of the Swedish Armed Forces’ logistics division in Arboga. “We’re very pleased that the Swedish Armed Forces has entrusted us with this, our first joint project, especially since it is a part of the Swedish Armed Forces’ efforts to meet its budget targets in the next few years,” says Johan Nyberg, managing director of Teleca Sweden East. “Our wide-ranging expertise in IT infrastructure, project management and process development will make a significant contribution to making the running of the Swedish Armed Forces’ IT system both more efficient and more effective.” For more information please contact: - Johan Nyberg, MD, Teleca Sweden East, mobile: +46-705292115 - Johannes Rudbeck, Investor Relations Manager, Teleca AB, mobile: +46-705825656
