RiksTV, Norway’s second largest tv-distributor with ca. 500.000 customers, has chosen TeleComputing for the development and IT-operation of its new customer system. Kentor, a consultancy company in the TeleComputing Group, will be responsible for the development and application management of the customer system while TeleComputing in Norway will be handle the IT-operation.

- RiksTV has had a considerable turnover growth in the last year. This is due to increased sales in our tv-packages, individual channels as well as our film services. A modern and flexible customer system is very important for supporting our business model and financial objectives. Kentor’s extensive experience with the development of such solutions, combined with TeleComputing’s established IT-operation model, were decisive factors when choosing our IT-supplier, says Christian Birkeland, Managing Director in RiksTV.

The new customer system will support rapid changes in price- and service structure and enable more differentiated support services for RiksTV’s customers, resellers and other third party providers. The solution is based on standard systems which have been adapted to the Nordic pay-tv-market.

- Kentor has considerable experience in offering IT-solutions to telecom providers. It started already in 1995 when Kentor implemented Com Hem’s system for Customer Care & Billing (CCB). Today we have many telecom customers in Sweden, Finland and Norway. We are looking forward to a close working relationship with RiksTV in Norway and will do our utmost to meet with their expectations, says Urban Berlinde, Managing Director in Kentor.

RiksTV has approximately 500.000 customers and more than 1200 resellers in Norway. The company offers digital-tv in the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) network, which is currently available to 98 percent of Norwegian households and ca. 90 percent of holiday homes using ordinary tv aerials. The DTT network in Norway is one of the biggest in the world, measured by the number of transmitters. RiksTV is owned by NRK, TV2 and Telenor.

- We are very proud to have won this contract. By combining the best industry- and business systems specialists from Kentor, our subsidiary, with personnel and services from our Norwegian IT-operation organization, we have put together the very best competence in our organization to develop and operate this new customer solution for RiksTV, says Sven Tore Kaasa, CEO in TeleComputing AS.
