TeleComputing signs IT-infrastructure contract with oil and gas company VNG Norge
Oil and gas company VNG Norge AS has chosen TeleComputing for delivery and operation of its new IT-infrastructure. The agreement means that TeleComputing will be responsible for the company’s ”backup and disaster recovery environment” as well as delivery and operation of the company’s WAN-solution and new local networks in Oslo and Stavanger. The agreement has an estimated value of 12 MNOK.
In addition to the IT-infrastructure agreement, TeleComputing will also deliver centralized operation solutions to VNG Norge and its IT-users as well as operate the local infrastructure in the company’s offices.
– When we established new offices we had the opportunity to build new, modern networks that support today’s services and can be scaled up if needed. We evaluated several technologies and suppliers and we have found a robust and future-oriented solution which is in line with our needs both in the short and long term, says Tore Lybekk, director of IT and administration in VNG Norge.
VNG Norge is a wholly-owned Norwegian subsidiary of the Leipzig-based VNG – Verbundnetz Gas Aktiengesellschaft, Germany’s third largest gas importer. The company’s strategy is to participate in the systematic and efficient value creation on the Norwegian Continental Shelf by using its own competence and by working closely with selected partners. VNG Norge has the responsibility of the Group's upstream activities and has 24 licenses in Norway and 2 licenses in Denmark.
– We are very proud that VNG Norge has chosen TeleComputing for its new IT-infrastructure solution. VNG Norge has been a TeleComputing customer since 2006 and we are looking forward to a continued co-operation in the future. This new agreement emphasizes our local presence in the Stavanger-region and confirms our position as a leading provider og IT-operation services to the oil- and gas sector in Norway, says Gisle Oppedal, commercial director in TeleComputing Norway.
