Ingenico aims to get to market quicker with Telelogic - Over 300 hours of individual developers' time saved per year, ROI in first year - MALMÖ, Sweden - January 16, 2002 - Telelogic (Stockholm Exchange: TLOG), the leading global provider of solutions for advanced software and systems development, today announced that Ingenico Fortronic Ltd has chosen change management software from Telelogic to co-ordinate the efforts of their European development engineers. In a deal worth US$ 360,000 (£250,000), Ingenico will deploy Telelogic Synergy, the company's change and configuration management solution across the Ingenico Group. Initial return on investment calculations reveal that the software will save them over 300 hours of developers' time and US$ 435,000 (£300,000) per year, bringing its products to market faster than previously possible. Ingenico is the world's leading provider of chip card reading point of sale (POS) terminals with over 5 million sold across 70 countries. Numerous teams of software developers based in Barcelona, Paris and Fife, continually update existing products, as well as work on the development of new products. Ingenico needed to reduce the time spent on managing the configuration of software projects as they progressed through development. It also needed to allow the teams of developers at different sites to access consistent data. Ian Brettell, Quality and Process Improvement Manager at Ingenico said: "Our developers are spending a lot of time tracing changes to understand the impact they would have on systems. They were spending upwards of 60 hours a month on necessary but often time consuming tasks for configuration management. With Telelogic Synergy, we aim to reduce this by about 30 hours. This should dramatically reduce development time without compromising quality. We aim to achieve this through automation, better communication and improved processes. We expect the tool to pay for itself within the first year, saving over US$ 435,000 (£300,000)." Chris Rolison, Director of Commercial Division, at Telelogic UK, said: "Time to market is a critical element of any product development, but a balance has to be struck between speed and quality. Telelogic Synergy was designed to ensure that companies could deliver products to market as fast as possible while maintaining the highest quality controls. An additional key advantage of products such as Synergy is the way in which the user can document and retain intellectual property of the code developed. Not only will Ingenico Fortronic see an early return on investment, but they will continue to reap the benefits of the system for many years to come." The Telelogic solution was chosen after an extensive competitive review due to a combination of technical ability and the product's overall value proposition. The transaction is part of an agreed package that will also enable Ingenico to participate in beta testing of Telelogic's next generation products.
