NEC Selects Telelogic as its Supplier for Third-Generation Mobile Telephony MALMÖ, Sweden, 17 September, 1999 - Telelogic AB (O-list) has received a sub- stantial order from NEC, one of the leading Japanese IT and consumer electron- ics companies. The order consists of product licenses and maintenance agree- ments - for a total of $1,1 million (USD) - for use in the development of third-generation mobile telephony (UMTS/IMT-2000). "Japan is considerably ahead of the rest of the world in developing third- generation mobile telephony, " said Peter Wargeus, president of Telelogic's Japanese office. "This is a strategic step in NEC's investment in Telelogic technology for the development of future mobile applications and systems. A number of negotiations are now in their final stages, and we expect to be able to announce additional sales with NEC within the next few weeks. Telelogic al- ready holds a strong position in the Japanese telecom market, and the release of a Japanese version of Telelogic Tau on September 15 has only strengthened that position."
