Telelogic and PMC to Develop DOORS Interface to Microsoft Project Ensures Resources are Assigned to Requirements; Increases Accuracy of Estimates; Simplifies Impact Assessment of Requirements Changes MALMÖ, Sweden and IRVINE, California - November, 13, 2003 - Telelogic (Stockholm Exchange: TLOG), the leading global provider of solutions for advanced systems and software development, and its alliance partner Project Management Centre Inc. (PMC), today announced a joint effort to develop an interface between Telelogic DOORS and Microsoft Office Project 2003. PMC specializes in the definition of Project Management Frameworks and the implementation of Enterprise Project Management Solutions (EPMS). The joint solution will enable information sharing between Telelogic DOORS, the industry's leading requirements management tool, and Project 2003, a project management program for project managers, business managers, and planners who want to plan and manage their projects. As a result, project managers will be able to more accurately estimate delivery before a project begins and as changes occur. The interface will also ensure that all requirements have resources assigned to implement them and that all requirements are scheduled in the project plan. In addition, the solution will simplify impact assessment of requirements changes on resources and schedules and can help assess a team's ability to fulfill requirements if resources change during the project or a schedule change is requested. General Availability is expected 24th November 2003 "Delivering projects that meet all requirements on time requires the highest degree of project visibility as well as the ability to effectively manage change and resources as the project progresses," said Ingemar Ljungdahl, Chief Technology Officer of Telelogic. "The interface between Telelogic DOORS and Microsoft Project provides these capabilities, making it easier for organizations to deliver successful projects on time with the resources they have available." "In today's world of increasingly complex projects and limited resources, relying on manual processes and basic tools is not enough," said Scott Hunter, president, PMC Project Management Center, Inc. "Organizations need automated tools with the power and flexibility to address various levels of maturity among their teams. With the interface of Telelogic DOORS with Microsoft Project, Telelogic and PMC continue our shared commitment to providing organizations with solutions that simplify the complexities of project management for systems and software development." The Telelogic DOORS/Microsoft Project interface allows users to create a Project 2003 plan from a set of requirements stored in DOORS, as well as add project activities to an existing Project 2003 plan. To facilitate team collaboration, all project plan data can be quickly and easily communicated to DOORS users within DOORS, thereby eliminating the need for training on additional software. Users of the interface can synchronize Project 2003 data as a series of linked DOORS modules to include activities, resources, dependencies, and resource assignments. The DOORS/Microsoft Project interface also takes full advantage of the Dynamic Requirements Management capabilities of DOORS 7.0, integrating them with Project 2003's intuitive project management features. Through the power of Suspect Links, DOORS users are notified of exactly which requirements are likely to be affected by a schedule or resource change and an audit trail of the project plan is maintained within DOORS on each update cycle. The interface also takes advantage of the DOORS 7.0 Intelligent Traceability feature to ensure that requirements allocated to different iterations for implementation are scheduled accordingly in the project plan. About Telelogic DOORS As the world's leading requirements management tool, Telelogic DOORS 7.0 captures, links, traces, analyzes, and manages information to ensure a project's compliance with specified requirements and standards. DOORS 7.0 revolutionizes systems and software projects with Dynamic Requirements Management, the practice of effectively managing an evolving set of requirements within a complex incremental development project. DOORS 7.0 features Intelligent Traceability to ensure that all teams are using the right requirements for the increment or version they are working on; Proactive Suspect Links to ensure that each team member knows about changes made by another, automatically; and Enterprise Change Proposal System to enable users to submit, review and approve changes within the document for easier collaboration between team members.
