Telelogic Announces New Release of Industry's Only Automated Change and Configuration Management Solution - New Features in Telelogic CM Synergy® 6.2 Enhance User Experience and Support for Remote Teams - MALMÖ, Sweden and IRVINE, California - November 6, 2001 - Telelogic, (Stockholm Exchange: TLOG), the leading global provider of solutions for advanced software and systems development, today announced the availability of Telelogic CM Synergy 6.2. This latest version of the industry's only automated change and configuration management solution contains a number of new feature enhancements that improve the user experience as well as support for remote teams and developers. Acquired by Telelogic from Continuus Software in December 2000, CM Synergy was named the most advanced change and configuration management system on the market by Yphise in its November 2000 industry report. Leading companies and organizations worldwide use CM Synergy to manage change throughout the software development lifecycle. By combining role appropriate interfaces, processes and practices into one comprehensive solution, centralized and distributed project teams can effectively manage software changes and their logical dependencies using an automated workflow approach. Along with tight integration into Telelogic ChangeSynergy, the product's high degree of automation and synchronization accelerates the application delivery process while improving quality and reducing cost. According to Bill Philbin, senior vice president of Telelogic's global product operations, the complexity of today's software product development lifecycle and use of distributed teams has made change very difficult to manage. "By unifying global software teams, leveraging a task-based methodology, and reducing manual processes, CM Synergy helps coordinate and manage every aspect of change during the application development lifecycle. The new features included in version 6.2 enable us to expand our technology leadership in the automated application lifecycle market," he said. CM Synergy 6.2 Feature Enhancements Developers and managers alike will find the added functionality of version 6.2 provides considerable advantages. Developers will find it easier to work on large projects with large directories and parallel conflict resolution, while managers will appreciate new reporting capabilities that ensure release integrity. Security has also been enhanced so that CM Synergy can now be installed in secure environments. Even though many new features have been added to version 6.2, the overall memory requirements have been reduced by more than 34 percent compared to previous versions. Key feature enhancements include: · Improved Performance of Common Developer Operations - Developer productivity is increased because of the reduced time spent on CM activities. The time needed to perform common operations, including opening and closing of large directories, checking in and checking out large numbers of objects, creating and removing multiple objects, and renaming objects, has been significantly reduced. Developers can expect up to 70% performance improvement in CM Synergy. · Enhanced Conflict Resolution - Distributed development requires teams to have instant access to conflicts during code merge operations. Developers and build managers can quickly resolve complex merge operations through an automated facility, which eliminates mistakes, broken builds, and uncertainty with typical development tools. · Enhanced Component-Based Development Support - For development organizations that develop, use, or deploy components, it is often very difficult to keep track of software component deliverables, their dependencies, and component variants. Improved component development support has been added in this release enabling component developers to more easily manage their component development process. The new component development features in this release allow for easier creation, development, and sharing of components. · Release Integrity and Change Request Verification - Synergy's intuitive Change Request Verification ensures that the contents of a release are validated and that all change requests have been satisfied. Suspicious, incomplete, and orphaned change requests are automatically reported upon for complete release integrity. · Undo Update Operations - Build engineers are not the only ones who need to keep their software configurations updated. Developers also need to update their projects to include the latest tasks into their own, insulated projects. During this process, there are times where updating projects with the latest changes yield in unwanted updates which could lead to broken builds. In times like this, the developer's productivity stops while they get their software configuration to the way it used to be. To avoid this problem, a newly added "Undo Update" operation has been added. If the results of an update or partial update are unexpected, the developer can quickly roll back to the previous membership with a simple click. · Superior Build Automation - Using ObjectMake, developers can modify project build operations and create automated macros which perform local and distributed builds on any targeted server. This enables faster and more customizable build functions for increased build integrity. · Enterprise Security - Enhanced security and removal of remote execution protocols enable authentication to be kept confidential as it passes through the Internet, VPN's and within a users corporate network. · Distributed CM Performance Improvements - Compared to version 6.1, Generate and Receive operations are approximately 2 to 3 times faster. These results are even faster on an NFS file system "In today's fiercely competitive marketplace development teams are faced with increased pressure to develop and release higher quality software faster but yet with less resources, said Tom Furukawa, Telelogic Synergy product marketing manager. "The capabilities in this release are directly targeted at developer productivity and enabling organizations to automate manual error prone tasks to enhance overall quality." Availability Telelogic CM Synergy 6.2 is available immediately on HP-UX, Solaris, Windows NT, Windows 98, and Windows 2000.
