Telelogic Announces Partnership with WAP-infrastructure Provider Leading developer of tools for real-time applications offers faster development and decreased time-to-market for new WAP-server products MALMÖ, Sweden, March 2, 2000 - Telelogic AB (Stockholm Stock Exchange:TLOG), the leading supplier of visual software development and test tools for real-time communicating systems, today announced the formation of a partnership with Newline Information AB, a designer of Wireless Application Protocol (WAP)-based information server technology for embedded systems. Telelogic and Newline Information have joined forces to provide an integrated solution of tools and components that will significantly speed up the development of WAP-infrastructure for the embedded system market and significantly decrease the time-to-market for new WAP-server products. "Telelogic's strategy has always been to provide solutions that help data and telecommunication customers get their products to market faster," said Anders Lidbeck, Telelogic's president and CEO. "By supplementing Telelogic Tau with Newline Information's specially adapted WAP-server protocol stack, we enable our customers to develop and launch their mobile IP solutions more expediently than ever before." "Our WAP-server protocol stack is an excellent complement to Telelogic Tau's tool set," said Linus Dalin, managing director of Newline Information AB. "We believe the partnership will result in a very powerful, integrated WAP-server solution for the Embedded WAP-market." About Telelogic Tau Telelogic Tau is comprised of tools for the analysis, design and testing of event-driven, real-time applications. Telelogic Tau merges the graphical notation of UML (Unified Modeling Language) in the Telelogic Tau UML Suite, with the design and development language of SDL (Specification Description Language) in the Telelogic Tau SDL Suite. This, together with the Telelogic Tau TTCN Suite, provides a complete software development, simulation and testing environment for large-scale communications applications. Telelogic Tau offers advanced project control functions -, as well as simulation without the need to write code in the implementation language, interactive generation of sequence diagrams, automatic generation of test cases, and test case simulation and execution. It also includes comprehensive, world-class UML support. By reducing the time spent in each of the analysis and design phases, and especially during the target construction and test phases, the entire software development cycle is reduced. About Newline Information's WAP-server Protocol Stack The Newline embedded WAP server provides a high performance, lightweight WAP server software stack solution for wireless communication needs in embedded systems. The embedded WAP server stack enables the use of standardized handheld WAP terminals to control embedded products and is particularly well-suited to Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS). The stack initially runs over two bearer technologies, SMS, used for long distance communication, and Bluetooth, used for short-range direct radio communication without a network infrastructure involved. Between the WAP stack provided by Newline Information and the customer application, is an interface called the repository that serves as a lightweight WAP server and information database. Information to be published by the application is sent to the repository. When a request comes from the terminal, this information is used to generate WML code and the code is sent to the terminal, either by SMS or by Bluetooth. By using a distributed network of servers instead of one centralized, the distance between the client and the application is minimized. With communication like Bluetooth, the connection will be virtually free. Availability Newline Information's WAP-server stack will be available from Telelogic's Market Operations World Wide from April 1, 2000.
