Telelogic launches unique testing tool for Bluetooth development Bluetooth PreQual helps developers to get fast approval of Bluetooth products MALMÖ, Sweden, November 21, 2000 - Telelogic AB (Stockholm Stock Exchange: TLOG), the leading supplier of solutions for real-time software development and requirements management, today announced the availability of the worlds' first software testing tool for Bluetooth developers, Bluetooth PreQual 1.0. The tool enables pre-qualification of Bluetooth applications, and ensures first-time success in the mandatory qualification of Bluetooth products "The Bluetooth technology is now getting closer to take-off," said Anders Lidbeck, President and CEO of Telelogic AB. "Early adopters of Bluetooth technology who can see the enormous business potential are now eager to put their products on the market. With Bluetooth PreQual, Telelogic can help developers of Bluetooth applications to shorten the vital time-to- market." Bluetooth PreQual uses the same conformance test suites as those used for the official qualification of Bluetooth products. By performing in-house pre-qualification of Bluetooth products with Bluetooth PreQual, users will ensure first-time success in the qualification process, eliminating the risk of losing time. Bluetooth PreQual is a cornerstone in the complete test and development solution for Bluetooth adopters provided by Telelogic. "The Bluetooth PreQual product will probably become a breakthrough for Telelogic's test business in the Bluetooth market," said Ingemar Ljungdahl, Chief Technical Officer of Telelogic AB. "We have barely presented Bluetooth PreQual to the market, but have already experienced an enormous interest in the product. And so far, there is no other Bluetooth testing tool available on the market." Availability Bluetooth PreQual 1.0 is immediately available for Microsoft® Windows® 2000. About Bluetooth qualification In order to prove conformance to the Bluetooth standard, all Bluetooth products must undergo the official Bluetooth qualification process before being introduced into the market. The qualification consists of a number of tests defined by the Bluetooth Qualification Program. All tests must be performed at Bluetooth Qualification Test Facilities (BQTF) authorized by the Bluetooth organization. The number of Bluetooth Qualification Test Facilities is limited, which means that there is a risk that the qualification process will become a bottleneck for Bluetooth application developers. By performing in-house testing new Bluetooth products with Bluetooth PreQual, the Bluetooth developer will be assured that the product passes qualification the first time, avoiding the risk of having to retest the product and lose precious time. The official qualification test suites are written in the standard test notation TTCN, which is one of Telelogic's core technologies. Telelogic is one of very few companies in the world that possess expert knowledge in TTCN. Telelogic's vast experience in TTCN, test methodology and test tools serves as a guarantee for its customers' success.
