Rhapsody 7.1 furthers alignment with SysML 1.0, supports Agile development and includes specialized Telecom package

MALMÖ, Sweden and IRVINE, California – 02 April 2007 – Telelogic (Nordic Exchange/MidCap/TLOG) today announced the latest version of its popular Model-Driven Development™ (MDD™) solution, Telelogic Rhapsody® 7.1.

The new Telelogic Rhapsody® release is more tightly aligned with the Object Management Group’s (OMG) Systems Modeling Language 1.0 (SysML™) and offers greater support for Agile development processes, leading to enhanced productivity and flexibility.

In addition, Rhapsody 7.1 provides the Rhapsody For Telecom package. This package, which continues Telelogic’s strategy to verticalize the Rhapsody solution, was specially designed for Telecom developers and engineers, with features including Telelogic SDL Suite™ 6.0 integration.

Recent data from the Embedded Market Forecasters (EMF) shows that projects using Rhapsody are more likely to complete according to expected schedules. The latest EMF paper, “What Do You Do When the Horse You’re Riding Drops Dead: Why Model Driven Design is Emerging as a Preferred Best Practice,” reveals that software industry designs are, on average, completed four months behind schedule, costing companies millions of dollars per project. The report states that organizations using modeling and simulation are seven times more likely to make or beat schedules.

“EMF’s recent findings validate that MDD solutions like Telelogic Rhapsody 7.1 provide a clear path forward for improved productivity and better profitability,” said Jerry Krasner, Ph.D., MBA, Vice President, Embedded Market Forecasters.

"Embedded and real-time software is critical to the success of a growing number of products. The pressure to improve quality and performance couldn’t be more real,” said Ingemar Ljungdahl, Chief Technology Officer, Telelogic. “Developers need flexible solutions that easily fit into their process, allowing them to work in a way that's natural. By supporting both code-centric and model-centric development processes, Rhapsody enables users to leverage modeling without having to change their current processes. The new features in this release allow developers to take advantage of an even greater range of performance-enhancing best practices, such as Agile development and test.”

Rhapsody 7.1 is available in May. Prices start at $1300 per license.
