New Enterprise Architecture Solution Helps Organizations Increase Business Agility and Optimize Service Reuse

MALMÖ, Sweden and IRVINE, California – May 21, 2007 – Telelogic (Nordic Exchange/MidCap/TLOG) today announced System Architect® For SOA, a solution that provides the planning and implementation benefits of Enterprise Architecture (EA) and Business Process Analysis to organizations developing Service Oriented Architectures.

Telelogic System Architect For SOA helps business owners, business architects, business analysts, and service component designers understand and analyze how existing IT landscapes support their business needs, while making it easier to rapidly respond to market changes by leveraging existing technologies that accelerate service reuse and commonality.

System Architect For SOA allows organizations to model business processes and directly relate these processes to new and existing services, as well as the IT environment in which these services exist. Service models can be created by capturing existing application landscapes. New analysis capabilities delivered with System Architect For SOA help identify candidates for service reuse as well as target the need for new service development. In addition, newly available analysis reports and roadmaps help visualize the progress and health of a developing SOA project.

System Architect for SOA is a powerful solution that provides:

- Business and IT alignment: System Architect For SOA provides business and IT with a SOA workflow, from business and architecture planning down to the development of new services. An actionable architecture foundation is created that allows business users to define strategies and requirements to better ensure SOA services satisfy their needs.

- SOA collaboration and forward planning: System Architect For SOA enables a unified SOA analysis and reporting platform for all stakeholders, enabling forward planning, manageability, and smarter decisions.

- Service reuse and cost reduction: System Architect For SOA creates an architectural environment allowing users to easily identify services for reuse while targeting business requirements for the creation of new services, saving time and development costs. Business teams are better able to collaborate, such that created services provide maximum reuse across the organization, while lowering the risk for subsequent redesign.

“System Architect For SOA is the next step in Telelogic’s Actionable Architecture strategy. The result is more effective and efficient decision-making regarding business process development and implementation due to a more comprehensive understanding of the business service landscape,” says Greg Sikes, Executive Vice President, Modeling Solutions at Telelogic. “System Architect For SOA was designed to increase business agility by providing a simple-to-use process, from services identification through business process design and implementation.”

“As SOA is maturing, the view of SOA has changed from being an IT technology to a strategic approach for business agility. In order for SOA projects to be successful, organizations must enforce the importance of ‘Architecture’ in SOA to identify how new and reused services will benefit the overall business,” says Robert Handler, VP Distinguished Analyst at Gartner. “This approach, when successfully applied, supports the unique needs of both business and technology experts while ensuring that their efforts are well coordinated.”
