Telelogictm Strengthens Market Leadership Position in Requirements Management with DOORS®/ERS 5.2 Release - Significant Upgrade to Enterprise Suite Improves Collaboration, Visibility and Project Management Capabilities - MALMö, Sweden and IRVINE, California - August 13, 2001 - Telelogic, (Stockholm Stock Exchange: TLOG), a leading global provider of automated application lifecycle solutions for advanced software and systems development, today announced the availability of the latest version of its multi-platform, enterprise-wide requirements management tool - DOORS Enterprise Requirements Suite (ERS) 5.2. Acquired by Telelogic from Quality Systems and Software in August 2000, DOORS was named the market leader for requirements management by the Standish Group in their December 2000 industry report. DOORS/ERS 5.2 is the only requirements management solution that includes three fully-integrated editing environments: a document or forms- oriented database environment (DOORS), an Internet/Web-based environment (DOORSnettm), and a Microsoft Word-based environment (DOORSrequireITtm). The ERS upgrade combines new versions of DOORS (Version 5.2) and DOORSnet (Version 4.0), along with the current version of DOORSrequireIT (Version 2.1). Through a number of significant feature enhancements, DOORS/ERS 5.2 provides users with the power and scalability required to manage today's large, highly complex projects that often involve many concurrent users collaborating over a network. With immediate access to up-to-the-minute data, users can now react to the actions of other team members in real time. This simplifies the process of capturing, linking, tracing, analyzing and managing a wide range of information to ensure a project's compliance with specified requirements and standards. "For requirements management to change the speed and quality of projects, it needs to become a seamless part of a user's organization," said Bill Philbin, Senior Vice President of Telelogic's global product organization. "The ability to measure systems delivery performance against business requirements combined with increased visibility, collaboration and validation across the enterprise reduces the risk of project failure. Using DOORS/ERS 5.2 organizations can avoid unnecessary and costly project revisions through improved planning and better management." Operational Enhancements The most significant enhancements of DOORS/ERS 5.2 include easier data sharing, historical reversal, baseline compares to better understand volatility, improved filtering, and new document templates for standardized presentation of information. Security has also been improved with new flexible password controls and guidelines, optional timeouts after a specified period of keyboard or mouse inactivity, and project access controls. Along with existing spreadsheet-like capabilities and document-oriented views of data, DOORS is now even easier to use. This latest upgrade also includes significant productivity enhancements that reduce software administration tasks. Flexible Process Support DOORS/ERS 5.2 enables organizations to guide the development of requirements and their relationships by defining the rules that govern a requirements methodology. Unlike competitive offerings, DOORS provides substantial - but non-intrusive - process support to help project managers ensure team compliance with agreed-upon processes. This provides integrity, completeness and security of development information, even when the composition of the team changes. In addition, inter-project linking enables easy subject-oriented collaboration on ideas, which aids creativity and speeds the delivery of new concepts, revisions and results. "We have had great success using DOORS 5 for requirements traceability because it offers unmatched flexibility in defining a requirements methodology," said Jean-Christophe Orhant, corporate system engineering tools manager at the Thales Group. "But 5.2 goes further by enforcing any data model, which ensures that all our users adhere to the Thales corporate standard regardless of their experience on the project." Customized Web Support "Organizations need a way to tap into expertise across their entire enterprise, but this is becoming increasingly difficult with today's mobile, dispersed workforces," said Paul Raymond, DOORS Product Manager at Telelogic. "With a distributed data management engine, remote users who require temporary access can incorporate any updates into the master database, making it easy to collaborate across the enterprise." This is possible using the Web interface of DOORSnet 4.0, which provides full browse and edit capability. DOORSnet 4.0 also includes a new display feature that enables Web views to include corporate branding and identity. "Recognition of ownership is of prime importance to our users," continued Raymond. "When data is published using DOORSnet, it is often important that the owner of that information is easily identified. Through proprietary notices or graphics, users can now incorporate branding into their data using DOORSnet 4.0." Enhanced Microsoft Word Support Continuing its commitment to Microsoft standards, DOORS/ERS includes the current version of DOORSrequireIT, a Microsoft Word-based tool for managing smaller sets of requirements for non-technical end-users. DOORSrequireIT 2.1 allows users to manage requirements - their attributes and their relationships - without the need for an external application or database. With a bi-directional interface to DOORS, DOORSrequireIT is the ideal tool for the Word-based community to engage in the enterprise-wide requirements management process. Availability DOORS 5.2 is currently available on Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Solaris 7 and 8 and HP-UX 11.
