Teleperformance staff from its offices in Bristol and Bangor (Northern Ireland) partnered with the Environment Agency to support deafblind charity Sense in maintaining a multi-sensory garden.

Sense is a national charity supporting and campaigning for deafblind people. The Sense centre in Kingswood, Bristol, provides a range of services for children and adults who are deafblind or have a multi-sensory impairment. The centre at Woodside has several rooms, each providing a different environment to explore as well as a multi-sensory garden.

Teleperformance and the Environment Agency team helped out for the day, on 10thOctober 2013, in the multi-sensory garden. The objective was to prepare the garden for winter and tasks involved a range of general gardening tasks such as mowing the lawns, weeding, pruning and general cleaning.

Catherine Rider, Account Director at Teleperformance said: “I am really grateful for the opportunity my colleagues and I were given to work in partnership with Sense. Our aim was to help maintain the sensory garden and I was amazed by how much the team of seven completed in one day! We hope our small contribution will help the local community.”

Ben Smedley, Flood Warning Systems Officer at the Environment Agency said: “Sense is a fantastic cause to support. The staff at Kingswood, Woodside centre, made us feel so welcome. I can’t think of a better opportunity to volunteer in our local community to achieve such positive environmental and community outcomes.”

Linda Eason, the Sense Centre Administrator said: “I walked up the sloping path this morning, the sun was out and the bushes and garden looked particularly wonderful. Thank you so much for all your help, it was so appreciated.”
