Xiuhtezcatl Tonatiuh Martinez from Colorado, USA, is this year’s winner of Telge Energi’s newly established: Children's Climate Prize. The winner was awarded the prize tonight in Södertälje City Hall during the ceremony. Pictures are now available in the press room from this evening’s awards ceremony.

Over 500 guests joined in to celebrate when Xiuhtezcatl was awarded this year’s Children’s Climate Prize. The ceremony was held in a packed Södertälje City Hall. 200 special guests was also participating in the exclusive banquet at Tom Tits Experiment, with delicious organic foods and the specially made Children’s Climate Cake. All the guests ended the evening with a ride down the famous slide.

Doreen Månsson was the evening’s host and Darin, Mariette and orchestra ensemble El Sistema stood for the musical entertainment. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Climate, Isabella Lövin, presented the award to the winner along with Johan L. Kuylenstierna, chairman of the jury. The winner Xiuhtezcatl held a serious yet hopeful acceptance speech and left no one indifferent.

“I’m not trying to get more followers, I try to inspire more young leaders, get more people to use their voice and their passion so that we can all work together to improve the world,” said Xiuhtezcatl Martinez.

“We initiated the Children's Climate Prize to highlight the climate crisis in a more hopeful and positive context, and this year's winner, Xiuhtezcatl, does just that. A true role model and inspiration to all of us, children and adults,” says Mats Fagerström, CEO of Telge Energi.
