Xiuhtezcatl interviewed on Skavlan TV-Show tonight

Xiuhtezcatl Tonatiuh Martinez from Colorado USA is this year´s winner of the Telge Energi’s newly established: Children’s Climate Prize. Tonight he appears as a guest on one of Europe’s biggest talk-shows: the Skavlan TV-Show, broadcasted simultaneously in all the Nordic networks, 9 pm local time.

Xiuhtezcatl Tonatiuh Martinez from Colorado, USA, is a 16-year-old climate activist, hip-hop artist and extraordinarily powerful voice in the climate debate worldwide. He is in Sweden right now to receive the Children’s Climate Prize, an international award that Telge Energi instituted to pay attention to children and young people’s climate actions. Other guests attending the Skavlan TV-Show includes; businesswoman Cristina Stenbeck, actor Johan Rheborg and scent artist Sissel Tolaas. Tensta Gospel Choir end the evening with 30 strong voices in the song “Nobody Can Do Me”.

Xiuhtezcatl has made his voice heard on some of the world’s biggest stages including at the UN Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Rio + 20, he was also the main speaker at the UN General Assembly in New York. He is director of the Earth Guardians, a global organization of young activists, artists and musicians from all over the world working together to create positive change, to combat climate change. In 2013 Xiuhtezcatl received the United States Community Service Award from President Obama, and was the youngest of 24 national “change-makers” designated to participate in President Obama’s Youth Council.

The winner and all finalists will participate in the award ceremony on November 24th in Södertalje City Hall followed by a banquet dinner at Tom Tits Experiment. Hostess is Doreen Månsson and there will be live music from Darin, Mariette and orchestra ensemble El Sistema. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for the Climate; Isabella Lövin will be participating in the award ceremony along with the jury for the Children’s Climate Prize. The event has 200 specially invited guests.
