TeliaSonera International Carrier are proud to present that IEC in Sports has selected its Media Connect Occasional Use service to be the bridge in Europe for delivering HD broadcast feeds from this year’s World Athletics Championships from South Korea to broadcasters in Europe and Africa.

A key event in the sporting calendar is the 13th World Championships in Athletics. It’s an international athletics competition currently being held in Daegu, South Korea with a record number of athletes. TeliaSonera International Carrier’s Media Connect Occasional Use service is acting as the bridge between several suppliers for delivering HD coverage of the event to broadcasters in Europe andAfrica.

IEC in Sports is a media company active in distribution of television rights to sport events to a wide variety of media platforms. The company represents clients on all continents and distributes television rights worldwide to TV stations and media companies.

TeliaSonera International Carrier secured the deal by its ability to create a mixture of solutions suitable for content transmissions from IEC in Daegu in South Korea, handling over to Arqiva in London who distributes the television rights worldwide to TV stations and media companies. Broadcasting from sporting events with limited capacity via one vendor can result in high costs; to avoid this TeliaSonera International Carrier has innovatively combining transmission platforms and cross connect to get the HD feeds out of the stadium to the satellite distributor.

IEC in Sports distributes over 3,500 hours of live sport annually all over the world. With as many as 275 live events each year, IEC is widely regarded as one of the global leaders in the media rights distribution business.
