TeliaSonera International Carrier selected for Masthead Studios’ MMORPG Earthrise
TeliaSonera International Carrier today announced that its Managed Data Center service has been selected by Masthead Studios for a three year deal to provide the gaming platform for Earthrise, a next generation post apocalyptic MMORPG, released in February.
The partnership sees TeliaSonera International Carrier providing a worldwide connectivity solution from New York, which includes IP connectivity, colocation, leased servers and management. With Earthrise being a MMORPG, the Bulgarian-based game studio needed an IP carrier with the ability to serve the needs of a high volume of players online simultaneously – offering high capacity and resilience against latency.
Through TeliaSonera International Carrier’s individually designed server leasing, hosting and management solution, installed in its New York data center, Masthead has been able to geographically locate their game where fans will have the best quality service possible. Whilst the majority of Masthead’s customers are based in the US, TeliaSonera International Carrier’s infrastructure and connections are amongst the top globally, enabling gamers in Western Europe to also receive the upmost level of online playability.
Erik Hallberg, President of TeliaSonera International Carrier, adds “Our gaming platform is currently handling a large portion of all online gaming worldwide, and is purpose-designed to support the demands of online gamers both today and for the long term. Whilst we’ve been taking care of all the technical aspects of the Earthrise platform, Masthead has been able to focus their time and energy on the development of the game itself.”
Earthrise is a post-apocalyptic, sci-fi MMORPG set in the distant future. Featuring a unique skill-based advancement system and player-driven economy, as well as extensive, meaningful player-vs.-player combat, Earthrise gives players countless options to forge their destiny through its sandbox-style game mechanics. Earthrise is available for purchase digitally at www.play-earthrise.com and through select distribution partners. Players who buy the game from the official site (www.play-earthrise.com) will receive the special Exemplar Armor Set, manufactured in the very nanoforges of Masthead Studios.
“TeliaSonera International Carrier’s ability to provide server infrastructure for MMO games and its industry experience drew us to the service, said Atanas Atanasov, producer of Earthrise and director of Masthead Studios. “Online gameplay marks the backbone of the Earthrise world and all operations of the game rely on TeliaSonera International Carrier’s MMO servers. Their high quality and experienced personnel will be key to the game’s success.”
