Call with your mobile and fixed line phone in Sweden – for SEK 0 per minute

Today Telia is launching a brand-new subscription offering that includes both fixed line and mobile telephony. For a fixed cost per month, customers no longer have to think if they should call from their fixed line phone or from their mobile phone. The cost is the same and the rate is always zero kronor per minute (SEK 0) when calling to a mobile phone with a Telia subscription or to a fixed line phone in Sweden.

In the new offering, Telia Ringa till vänner (“Telia Call to Friends”), customers pay a fixed charge of SEK 299 per month and call at a rate of SEK 0 per minute to Telia mobiles and all fixed line phones in Sweden, regardless if the call is made from their mobile phone or their fixed line phone. The opening charge is SEK 0.59 per call. The cost for calling mobile phones with other operators is SEK 1.29 per minute. The offering includes a Telia mobile subscription. “We know that our customers like both the fixed line phone and mobile phone but that they use them in different ways. Now customers no longer have to think about which phone they are going to use for a call and they can talk as long as they want without having to worry about the cost,” says Indra Åsander, head of the consumer segment at TeliaSonera Sweden. Swedes get silver medal for calling from fixed line phones According to the findings of a survey that Telia conducted in cooperation with Ericsson Consumer & Enterprise Lab, the fixed line phone is the most popular phone among Swedes for staying in touch with family and close friends. Calculated in terms of the number of call minutes, Swedes are only beaten by the Americans when it comes to talking on a fixed line phone. The fixed line phone is chosen mainly because it is easy to use and convenient. With the new Telia Call to Friends subscription, it will be just as easy and convenient to call with a mobile phone. The mobile phone is also popular for calling family and friends, but is also important for staying in touch with colleagues when someone is away from work. Sweden has one of the highest mobile phone densities in the world. Approximately 96 percent of the Swedes say they have access to a mobile phone today. The survey is based on a random sampling of people representing all of Sweden. The survey period was May 2-June 12, 2005.
