Four out of ten people in small companies want Internet access in their car Four out of ten people working for a small company want to be able to connect to the Internet in their car. One out of three would like to access the Web during an airplane flight. Being able to connect from home and a hotel room are at the top of their wish list. These are some of the findings from TeliaSonera Sweden's latest "Communications Barometer for Companies" survey. TeliaSonera, with the assistance of the Quickwise research company, has polled 1,457 people working in companies with ten or less employees. The questions in the poll focused on the Internet and other communication possibilities. The respondents especially wanted to be able to connect to the Internet from their home (74 percent). Next on the list was connectivity from a hotel room (57 percent), their car (44 percent), a customer's office (43 percent), a train (42 percent), their vacation home (40 percent) and during flights (33 percent). However, they also had requests of a more unusual nature; for example, 9 percent wanted to be able to connect to the Web at a petrol station and 6 percent in their apartment building's laundry room. Owners of small businesses are more interested than their employees in being online at places of leisure, such as in their boats and summer homes. "The Internet is the life nerve of many companies and accessibility will soon be one of their most important competitive advantages. In the future, it will be a requirement that people can easily connect to the Internet virtually anywhere," says Erik Heilborn, head of the Business Segment at TeliaSonera Sweden. Persons in the survey were also given the opportunity to say what they feel are the most important ways to communicate when they are outside the office. Most of them thought that it is rather important, or very important, to have access to a mobile phone (93 percent). Sending and receiving e-mail (76 percent) and having a fast Internet connection (75 percent) were next.
