Kcell reached 1 million mobile subscribers in Kazakhstan TeliaSonera's subsidiary GSM Kazakhstan with the brand name Kcell has passed the milestone of 1 million subscribers in January. During the last year, Kcell's customer growth amounted to about 60 percent. Kcell has the largest subscriber base of the four Fintur companies operating in the Eurasian emerging mobile markets. Kazakhstan represents a strong growth potential of TeliaSonera's Eurasian markets with a mobile penetration of about 9 percent compared to the total population of nearly 15 million. Kcell is the leading mobile operator in Kazakhstan with a market share of over 70 percent. TeliaSonera consolidates GSM Kazakhstan as a subsidiary with a 51 percent ownership through Fintur Holdings.
