Saab Automobile showed its new PhoeniX concept car for the first time at the 2011 International Motor Show in Geneva. TeliaSonera has been Saab's partner for the development of the car's innovative infotainment system called IQon.

TeliaSonera has helped develop Saab Automobile's innovative IQon in-car infotainment system that is showed for the first time in the Saab PhoeniX concept car at the major international auto exhibition 2011 Geneva Motor Show in Geneva, Switzerland. IQon is a computer that automatically connects to the Internet as soon as you turn the ignition key in the car. During the development project, all data communications from the car were tested over TeliaSonera's mobile network in Sweden.

"Infotainment is part of M2M, machine-to-machine communication, which are currently in a very exciting development phase. Thanks to our cooperation with Saab, it feels like we are breaking new ground in the M2M field," says Håkan Dahlström, Head of Mobility Services at TeliaSonera.

IQon will be able to download apps right to the car. These apps will be similar to those for smartphones, allowing car owners to personalize their driving environment, install streamed music services or automatically send vehicle diagnostics data directly to their service center. IQon is built around the Android operating system, which will open up opportunities for third-party developers to design their own in-car applications.

The IQon system will be tested on roads in Sweden during the rest of the year.
