Tele2 to pay more than SEK 1 billion to TeliaSonera

The district court in Stockholm today ruled that Tele2 is to pay slightly more than SEK 1 billion, plus interest, to TeliaSonera. The claim is based on a decision that the Swedish National Post and Telecom Agency (PTS) made in the autumn of 2001 concerning fees that Tele2 is to pay for calls that are initiated in Tele2’s network and terminated in TeliaSonera’s fixed and mobile networks. “This has been a long and drawn-out process and it is positive that the Court has now established TeliaSonera’s right to receive payment for what it has delivered to Tele2,” says Marie Ehrling, head of TeliaSonera Sweden. Today’s decision does not have an impact on TeliaSonera’s operating results, although the payment by Tele2 will have a positive effect on cash flow when it is received.
