Telia and the HSB Malmö housing cooperative (Malmö, Sweden) have signed a seven-year framework agreement covering the provision and operation of a broadband network for apartments in the HSB Malmö housing cooperative. According to the terms of the agreement, all households in the HSB Malmö housing cooperative will be offered broadband-based services such as Internet, telephony and television services through the HSB Bo-Lina network. Most apartments will be connected through local network solutions (LANs), while others, depending on their location, will be connected by traditional ADSL connections.

The HSB Bo-Lina network has been in operation since the first framework agreement that was signed between HSB Malmö and Telia five years ago, which gave approximately 31,000 households access to broadband service. The network will now be improved substantially and upgraded, with virtually all technical equipment being replaced to meet current and future requirements for capacity and security. “Since Telia is a network operator, the new agreement will ensure that the network will continue to be of high quality and it will also satisfy our members’ request to have the option to choose between different service providers, which we feel is very valuable,” says Greg Dingizian, managing director of HSB Malmö. HSB Malmö, as communications operator, is assuming complete, operator-neutral responsibility for the network. Telia is installing and operating the network as the network operator on behalf of HSB Malmö. In the new Bo-Lina network, HSB housing cooperatives will also have much greater possibilities to implement local applications and services, such as building services supervision, security alarms and entry control systems. “We are naturally very pleased that HSB Malmö has shown renewed confidence in us. The new agreement indicates that we have the competence and experience to build and operate large and complex network solutions of high quality, which is an important factor when customers choose their supplier and cooperation partner,” says Anders Gylder, head of the Large Corporate Customers Segment at TeliaSonera Sweden.
