Telia’s private customers can now surf on the mobile Internet as much as they want from their mobile phone without having to worry about runaway costs. Visitors to Telia’s SurfPort mobile portal can use their mobile handset to read the evening newspaper, listen to radio, watch television and enjoy many more features – and will only pay a maximum of SEK 9 per 24 hours in traffic charges.

“Our mobile subscribers are using the services on our Telia SurfPort mobile portal more and more. As usage has increased, we have also seen a growing need for helping our customers to control costs. By introducing a maximum rate, we are giving them the security and freedom so they can continue to use their favourite services and also try new ones without having to worrying about costs,” says Indra Åsander, head of the consumer market at TeliaSonera Sweden. On the Telia SurfPort portal, visitors pay for the amount of data they send or receive, not for the time they are connected. Reading an article costs about SEK 0.30 and reading the front page of an evening newspaper costs about SEK 0.80. Users can read online material as long as they want because there is no minute rate. With the new maximum rate, SurfPort visitors can now watch television shows, read Internet pages and send e-mails as much as they want – the traffic charge will not be higher than SEK 9 per 24 hours. The maximum rate is for using services through the Telia SurfPort portal. There will be an additional charge for services such as ringtones, weather forecasts and mobile games. The charge for each service is always shown on the handset display and has to be approved by the user before the service can be downloaded to the mobile phone. The Telia SurfPort mobile portal offers a broad range of entertainment features and handy mobile services. All Telia subscriptions and prepaid cards work with the service.
