Telia's fastest broadband now available in all Swedish municipalities As of July 15 this year, households in all 290 municipalities in Sweden will have access to Telia's fastest broadband connection - Telia Broadband 8000. This means that 71 percent of all Swedish households can have broadband speeds up to 8 Mbit/s. No other operator in Europe can offer such extensive broadband penetration with such high speeds today. Telia is continuing to build out its broadband network and approximately 85 percent of the households in Sweden have access to broadband today through Telia. The fastest service, Telia Broadband 8000, can be offered to customers living within a 3.5 km link distance to a telecom switching centre. Telia Broadband 8000 has speeds up to 8000 Kbit/s downstream and up to 800 Kbit/s upstream. With the 8000 service, a 5 Mb data file can be theoretically downloaded in about 5 seconds. Downloading the same file with a dial-up modem (56 Kbit/s) would take about 12 minutes. The monthly fee for Telia broadband 8000 is SEK 449. Subscribers also pay a one-time charge of SEK 695 (excluding Ethernet modem). Telia currently offers the following broadband subscriptions to consumers: Telia Broadband 250 (up to 250 Kbit/s), Telia Broadband 500 (up to 500 Kbit/s), Telia Broadband 2000 (up 2000 Kbit/s) and Telia Broadband 8000 (up to 8000 Kbit/s).
