The public housing sector in Stockholm has signed an agreement with Telia for the distribution of broadband services to apartment buildings in the south of Stockholm managed by the public housing companies Svenska Bostäder, Stockholmshem and Familjebostäder. The agreement is for a seven-year period and is valued at approximately SEK 200 million.

As a result of the new agreement, Telia will be an operator of communication services for a network that is operator-independent. Telia will provide and ensure the operation of the network, which will be open to all operators to supply services such as television, broadband and IP telephony.

Tenants will gain access to a broad range of services and providers that they can select and combine to meet their individual needs and requirements.

The communications solution also gives building owners the option to incorporate and utilize modern management services, such as supervisory systems for air handling equipment and alarm systems.

“We’re pleased that the three largest public housing companies in Stockholm have chosen us as their communications provider,” says Joacim Damgard, manager for building and metropolitan core network business at TeliaSonera Sweden. “This solution increases our customers’ freedom of choice at the same time as they gain access to the latest technology and services on the market.”
