Press Release November 10, 2004 Telia to launch 24 Mbit/s broadband in Sweden As of November 21, 2004, and gradually up to January 2005, households in 101 municipalities in different areas of Sweden will be able to order Telia's new fast broadband connection - Telia Broadband 24 Mbit/s. Approximately 28 percent of Sweden's households are currently connected to telecom switching centres that will be built out for the new service. The new speed of 24 Mbit/s is being offered to customers living within a 2.5 km link distance from a switching centre in one of the 101 municipalities. Telia Broadband 24 Mbit/s will provide speeds up to 24 Mbit/s downstream to customers. The monthly fee is SEK 449 kronor, not including a one-time connection charge of SEK 695. The new service will require a special modem designed for ADSL 2+. "Our broadband services have been in great demand during the autumn and we have had a strong inflow of new subscribers," says Marie Ehrling, head of TeliaSonera Sweden.
