TeliaSonera Finland launches a flat-rate fixed voice offering and unifies the local fixed telephony call and network charges

TeliaSonera Finland launches a new, flat-rate voice offering to the local call market in the fixed network and unifies the local fixed telephony call and network charges for all its area codes as of June 1, 2006. This is part of TeliaSonera’s ambition to make it easier and to simplify its offerings for consumers.

”We want to offer all Sonera consumer customers the appreciated flat-rate fixed voice offer that we have been offering to Auria’s consumer customers for more than a year now. The service has been successful and a third of Auria’s fixed voice consumers have chosen this offer. The popularity of flat-rate packages is increasing within fixed voice,” says Senior Vice President Eero Sinkkonen of TeliaSonera Finland. The flat-rate offering, Sonera Puhepaketti Kiinteä, brings savings in local fixed call charges for our consumers. The offer includes unlimited calls to all Sonera fixed voice subscriptions within an area code for 5 euros per month. Furthermore, the consumers will get an up to 40 percent discount when calling from a Sonera fixed residential telephony subscription to all mobile subscriptions and a discount of about 10 percent on average for long-distance and international calls. Sonera Puhepaketti Kiinteä is available for consumer customers. The flat-rate offering does not cover calls to specially-priced company numbers nor Internet dial-up numbers. Local call charges unified Sonera unifies the local fixed call and network charges for all area codes as of June 1, 2006. As a result, the call set-up charge decreases and the per-minute charge increases. Consumers who predominantly make shorter calls will benefit from these changes. For consumers who frequently make longer calls, Sonera Puhepaketti Kiinteä is recommended. The monthly charges of the fixed subscriptions and the other call charges remain unchanged. As of June 1, 2006, the new local fixed call charges are 9.9 euro cents per call and 1.99 euro cents per minute, and the new local fixed network charges are 8.9 euro cents per call and 1.89 euro cents per minute (7.9 euro cents per call + 1.89 cents per minute for voice agreement consumer customers). In 2005 TeliaSonera Finland had approximately 350,000 consumer customers in the fixed network.
