TeliaSonera's mobile customers in Sweden can now send MMS messages to Tele2/Comviq customers As of today, TeliaSonera's mobile customers in Sweden can send multimedia messages (MMS) to Tele2/Comviq mobile customers. TeliaSonera's 3.5 million mobile customers in Sweden have also been able to send MMS messages to Vodafone subscribers since April 8. In Sweden, TeliaSonera's mobile customers have been able to send MMS messages to other TeliaSonera customers since December last year. TeliaSonera customers in Sweden can use the MMS service free of charge until May 31 this year. "We are pleased to have also reached an agreement with Tele2/Comviq about MMS. Our mobile customers in Sweden can now send MMS messages to more of their friends, which will make the service even better. Now there are no more barriers for customers and we believe usage of the MMS service will increase sharply," says Indra Åsander, head of the Consumer Segment, TeliaSonera Sweden. MMS is the successor to the popular Short Messaging Service (SMS) service but gives users the possibility to express themselves in a more specific way. A message can consist of a picture, photo, sound clip and text message which can be combined in any way the user chooses. TeliaSonera's customers in Sweden can send MMS messages with a content up to 50 Kb, which corresponds to a few images combined with a sound clip and text. The service is free of charge until May 31, 2003. After that date, sending MMS messages in Sweden will cost SEK 3.80 each, including V.A.T. There is no charge for receiving an MMS message. TeliaSonera's mobile customers in Sweden and Finland have been able to send MMS messages to each other since March 17 this year. On April 8, TeliaSonera Sweden reached an agreement with Vodafone about the interconnection rate for MMS.
