TeliaSonera Sweden expects to fulfill the license terms and conditions for the build-out of the 3G network this autumn, at which time 3G network coverage will be available to more than 8,860,000 people in Sweden in accordance with the requirements of PTS, the Swedish National Post and Telecom Agency. The build-out process is now entering a new phase.

Within the next few days, mobile operators building 3G networks are to report to the PTS the dates on which their network coverage will comply with the terms and conditions for 3G licenses in Sweden. Svenska UMTS-nät AB, jointly owned by TeliaSonera Sweden and Tele2, which is building the 3G network for the two companies, will then report that its build-out will meet the PTS’s requirements during the autumn of 2006. The build-out of the 3G network will then enter a new phase in which the network will be strengthened and improved to meet the steadily growing demand for 3G services from TeliaSonera Sweden’s customers. “We’re very satisfied that we will soon fulfil the license terms. We are especially pleased that we will be able to offer the best coverage in Sweden to our customers, who have stringent requirements and high expectations for mobile communication services,” says Marie Ehrling, head of TeliaSonera Sweden.
