TeliaSonera Sweden and SRA, the Swedish Road Administration (Vägverket), have signed an agreement in which SRA will hand over complete responsibility for its telecommunication and data communication services to TeliaSonera. The managed services agreement consists of three separate supply contracts based on the framework agreements of the Swedish Agency for Public Management (Statskontoret) titled “Communications as a Service”, “Mobile Communications” and “Fixed Operator Services and Transmission”. The agreements are for a period of three years and are valued at SEK 180 million.

The agreements will simplify the integration of SRA’s fixed telephony, mobile telephony and data communication services. The administration’s 24-hour service function will be further developed, which handles about 9 million incoming phone calls each year to SRA’s traffic register and also sends about 6 million SMS messages per year in response to requests for vehicle registration information. The three agreements cover 6,400 mobile subscriptions, about 6,000 PBX connections and 250 administrative sites for SRA’s customer service. SRA’s communication costs will be reduced considerably as a result of the new agreements.
