The betting network of ATG, which serves 2,050 ATG representatives and 37 harness and horse racing tracks in Sweden, will be completely IP-based by the end of this year. TeliaSonera Sweden is building a brand new communications systems for ATG and the estimated value of the order is SEK 140 million.

Installation of the new network will start soon. It will be one of the largest data network in Sweden in terms of the number of connection points, and it will also be prepared for new IP-based functions and services. The new network solution will reduce ATG’s operating costs and also provide a new potential source of revenue because of its increased functionality. The betting network, which is also used for distributing theatre and show tickets through ATG representatives, and for selling prepaid cards for mobile telephones, will enable a wider range of interactive services between ATG and betting customers in the near future. “ATG has enjoyed a good cooperative relationship with Telia for many years, which is why we are looking forward to have the network migrated to a new level of technology,” says Remy Nilson, managing director of ATG. “With our investment in the new IP-based broadband network, we will have greater possibilities to develop our products and services with functions that require a fast network.” The agreement between TeliaSonera Sweden and ATG runs until 2011 and is estimated to be worth SEK 140 million. “We’re pleased over the renewed confidence that ATG has shown in Telia. ATG will have a modern and future-proof network that will be an effective tool for the company to develop its operations and services,” says Anders Gylder, head of the Large Corporate Customers Segment at TeliaSonera Sweden.
