Rates changed for fixed telephony/correction Telia introduces a new subscription rates for the fixed network on October 1, 2001. The new monthly subscription rate for private customers will be SEK 160 (125), incl. VAT and SEK 144 (116) for enterprises, excl. VAT. The subscriptions affected are: Telia Bas (basic subscription rate), Telia Bas Ungdom (basic rate for young people), Telia Bas Fritidshus (basic rate for recreational homes in Sweden), Telia Föreningsabonnemang (rate for associations) and Telia Företagsabonnemang (rate for companies/enterprises). On September 1, 2001, Telia will reduce the rate for calls from fixed lines to mobile phones in Telia's network by SEK 0.20 per minute on holiday-free weekdays between 8.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m., the time of the day when most calls are made from the fixed network to mobile phones. The new rate, after the reduction, will be SEK 2.50 per minute (incl. VAT). The new rates are expected to generate a total of SEK 1,500 million for the full year. "As a result of the price ceiling set by the Swedish Government rates are on the wrong level. When the price ceiling no longer exist, Telia can establish rates that give us a recent price level and give us a reasonable term so that we can reinvest in our network" commented Kennet Rådne, acting head of the Telia Networks business area.
