Speedy Tomato voted best mobile portal in the world Speedy Tomato won the category "best mobile portal in the world" at the AGMA, Annual Global Mobile Awards, in Nice. The prize was awarded at the 5th Annual 3G 2001 conference, arranged by IIR, the Institute for International Research. "It feels really great that it is the users themselves who voted for us," says Erik Hallberg, CEO of Speedy Tomato. "It is a confirmation that our efforts so far have been successful. We are determined to continue working on user-friendly services who support interaction between people". Unlike many other accolades, IIR's AGMA Awards are not just for technical innovation, they also reward user benefit. Users have voted for the best portal. Their vote together with the views of the jury of well-known names, ultimately designated Speedy Tomato the best mobile portal of the world. Under the criteria the prize is awarded to the mobile portal, launched during 2000, which most successfully provides a personal and user- friendly content. Functionality, technical innovation, number of users and price strategy were also assessed. Speedy Tomato won the prize in competition with Celltick, Zed, T-Motion, Atobe, Genie, Vizzavi, Mviva, Itim and Orange.
