Swedish telecom operator Telia to enter the Hungarian Market Telia International Carrier, a wholly owned subsidiary of Telia, the leading Internet and communication company in Scandinavia has started its operations in Hungary. The aim is to provide carrier services to telecom and Internet service providers, without targeting the end user market. An office has already been opened in Budapest, and a technical point of presence (PoP) has been set up at Váci út 35 with a 155MB connection to Telias international network. - The location of our PoP offers cost efficient interconnection for our customers through the major local network providers in Hungary. And with capacity representing some 30% of the total international bandwidth to Hungary we are now in a great position to seize a substantial part of the IP and leased line market, says Albert Búzássy who is managing Telia International Carriers operations in Hungary. Telia International Carrier can offer telecom and Internet service providers full circuit leased lines of 2MB, 34/45MB or 155MB to any of Telias PoP:s in the rapidly expanding Viking network between major cities in Europe and the US. Telia International Carrier can also offer Tier 1 Internet connectivity in bandwidth ranging from 256K to 155MB, and platforms for value added services such as Voice over IP and Virtual Private Networks.
