Telia closes a 17 million Euros deal with FirstMark Telia International Carrier has signed a 12-year agreement with UK based operator FirstMark. Under the contract, which is valued to be approximately 17 Million Euros. FirstMark leases fibre optic capacity site space and maintenance from Telia. In the agreement, FirstMark Communication S.A. leases fibre in Europe for its German subsidiary LambdaNet Communications. Telia IC provides LambdaNet with fibre connecting six countries - Netherlands, Belgium, UK, France, Germany and Austria. Also, LambdaNet leases space in Telia's repeater stations. The contract will be valid starting January 1, 2001. Under the contract, Telia International Carrier purchases a 10Gbit/s network connecting 12 German cities. This network complements and tightens Telia International Carrier´s existing German backbone, which in total will cover 23 German cities.
