Telia delivers mobile solution to ABB Telia (SSE: TLIA) has signed an agreement with ABB covering the provision of mobile services and mobile traffic. The agreement also includes a solution enabling the integration of fixed and mobile telephony. The three-year agreement is valued at more than SEK 150 million. Telia and ABB have developed a business solution and technical platform making it possible to integrate fixed line and mobile telephony service at ABB companies in Sweden. Today, ABB uses about 10,000 mobile handsets in its Swedish operations and many ABB employees use two telephones, one mobile and one ordinary fixed line handset. With the functionality of the new mobile solution, mobile users only need a mobile handset, which also lets them utilise all the facilities and features of a PBX. ABB has operations at close to 300 locations in Sweden and many employees have to travel long distances. Good mobile coverage and capacity is therefore crucial for ABB to take care of its customers. In addition to making the phones user-friendlier, the solution also allows more efficient cost control and easier administration for ABB. In the new system, private calls can also be billed separately on a special invoice sent directly to the home addresses of employees. - The technical solution has been tested at ABB's new business centre in Häggvik, outside Stockholm, with excellent results, says Anders Gylder, President of Telia Sweden, who looks forward to collaborating further with ABB. - We both share the same goal to create solutions providing mutual benefits. Mobile applications enable us to develop business further and together with ABB we will be starting up a number of exciting projects this spring, ends Anders Gylder.
