Telia Mobile offers advanced mobile services to an international audience with Cisco's IP based Unified Communications Platform, uOne Telia Mobile is offering mobile operators world wide a head start by launching Unified Mobile Communications (UMC), an open, IP based software platform providing enhanced communications services. Through the platform providers can offer customers advanced mobile services, without the development cost. UMC services include a personal mailbox for all message handling, mobile access to the Internet, voice portal. UMC also offers support to make the operators own handling and administration more efficient. Sweden is one of the world's most developed countries in regards to IT, data and mobile telephony services. The lead that Telia Mobile has acquired through being the largest mobile phone operator in Sweden will now be leveraged to sell advanced mobile telephony services to other operators world wide. "The combination of our experience working with Department Of the Future, DOF, over the last two years, with one of the most advanced mobile services in the world, and Cisco's strength as a software supplier, guarantees a highly-competitive concept," says Peter Hall, Product Manager UMC, Telia Mobile International. DOF is Telia´s brand for advanced mobile services that makes fax, e-mail, voice and SMS messaging accessible through the mobile phone. Primary customers are operators, Service Providers and Internet suppliers. "Purchasing our platform enables mobile phone operators to offer their customers advanced services. A number of major operators have already shown interest," continues Peter Hall. The UMC is based on Cisco's Unified Communications software suite, uOne. Cisco's uOne solution uses the open Internet Protocol (IP) standard, along with message stor and directory applications from Cisco partners to unify communications methods that were previously unconnected- such as email, fax machines, voice mail systems, mobile phones and the Web.
