Telia sells optical fiber network to Infigate Telia International Carrier has sold an optical fiber network to German based Infigate GmbH. The network covers the eight largest German cities. The deal, which also includes the long-term lease of a conduit on the Munich-Vienna route amounts to DEM 38 million. (ap USD 17 mil.) The optical fibre network connects the cities of Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hannover and Berlin. In addition, Infigate leases colocation space and maintenance services. On the Munich-Vienna route, Infigate will purchase a duct as well as colocation and maintenance services. "This contract once more stresses our position as a leading European supplier of infrastructure for carriers and internet service providers", says Rüdiger Weckwerth, managing director of Telia International Carriers German subsidiary. "Telias German backbone covers 23 cities and offers connectivity to Telias Viking Network, one of the few globally fully redundant networks with highest quality" About Telia International Carrier: Telia's wholly owned subsidiary, Telia International Carrier, provides IP, Capacity, Voice and Infrastructure services.
